Almost finished!

My project is basically finished now I've just got the gant chart and the control to do. I'm ova the word count so I've got to cut it down and sort out the appendix. But I actually feel ok about it and I've still got 4 days left. Not bad!

My perfume bottle

Heres my perfume bottle. I did this ages ago but I thought I should put it on my blog. The whole thing is made from Swarovski crystal and the Swan is their logo. To use you press the wings and it squirts out of the beak!

Personalised Marketing

I got this in the post today from carphone warehouse and I love the idea. It's personalised 'Whatever upgrade Christy wants, Christy gets this christmas' to every customer. I would never even open this normally it would just go in the bin but it really caught my attention. I'm not sure if it would be as effective with a luxury brand but I think its fantastic for this company.

Swarovski Store

Finally got my photos! Heres the Swarovski store on Oxford Street. I've been looking at different Swarovski stores and they are all laid out roughly the same to keep up a consistant brand image. The interior is trational navy blue and orange which makes the sparkling crystal pieces really stand out. The stores are classy and fell clean and spacious when you walk in. The staff seem freindly and helpful. In some luxury stores staff can be rude and intimidating but its not like that in Swarovski stores.

I'm not happy!

It's 9 on sat morning ive been up 4 bout half an hour doing the marketing project coz I'm desperate to get most of it finished this weekend!
I realised I still haven't my photos on the blog so I thought I'd do that now and I can't find the lead for my camera anywhere. My brother might have put it somewhere coz he is annoying like that but if not I don't know how I'm gonna use my camera! I really need them photos for the project as well. I'll just have to wait till my brother gets home.

On the good side though I think the project is going ok. Hopefully will be able to see Jon next week to make sure I've included everything and I'm on the right track. Found out we have to include a budget now which I didn't think we had to do. I'm finding it really hard to find out how much it would actually cost to produce all the perfume and bottles so need to spk to Jon about that.

Still stressing!

I've basically finished my situation but I'm struggling with objectives as usual! I know what I want to achieve but I find it hard to write them in a way that they can be measured. Seeing Sally about the project tomorrow morning so hopefully she will be able to help.

Getting stressed out now 3 weeks left!!

I've been so busy focusing on the other projects that I've been neglecting my blog!
I've done quite a bit on marketing but i'm a bit scared now theres only 3 weeks left.
I've been doing more on the other projects for the last 2 weeks so now I'm 100% focused on marketing!

Busy, busy, busy!

I've taken photos of competitors from different department stores and of the Swarovski store but I can't upload them onto the blog yet coz I don't have my camera on me. I was looking at fragrance displays and layouts in different stores and getting ideas for the project.
Anyway it's really got me in the mood so I've designed the bottle for the new Swarovski fragrance. I was feeling creative! I probably didn't need to do it yet but at least it's one thing I can cross off my list!

Swarovski it is!!

I've been thinking about all the different brands I could use and I've finally decided on Swarovski. The brand is so involved in fashion that I think it gives a huge scope for different marketing, advertising and PR ideas. Swarovski sponsored Fashion Rocks on 18 October, a show where fashion and music collaborate. I would have absoulutely loved to go. Maybe next year! They have bought out a new collection just for the event and Naomi Campbell is the face of the ad campaign. I think a new perfume would fit in perfectly!

P Diddy's Not So Sexy New Fragrance

I went into Boots on Oxford Street yesterday and there was a huge display for P Diddy's new fragrance for women. Is it me or does he look like he is attacking this women rather than having a sexy moment with with her! This would not attract me to buy it! Not that I would buy a celeb fragrance anyway. They are just getting so boring now, I think they need to find another way to make money!

Swarovski???

I've just read an article about Nadja Swarovski in todays Evening Standard. She has expanded the brand massively by focusing more on fashion. In the past few years Swarovski has sponsored Giles Deacon, Johnathan Saunders, Roksanda Ilincic and Christopher Kane, by giving them £20,000 each, in return for their crystals to be added to some of the designs.

Swarovski do a wide range of products including perfume bottles but they don't have a fragrance. I don't really know if this would be the sort of brand Jon would be looking for and I can't think any other jewellery brands that have fragrances. The reason I think it would work for Swarovski is because it is so involved in the fashion industry.

I'm not sure coz I don't know how much info I will be able to find on the brand and if it would be right for this project but it's an idea!

Getting Started!

Hi, Wecolme to my Blog.
I haven't been very well so I missed the first Marketing Communications lesson.
Not a good time to be ill coz I seemed to have missed quite a lot!
I found out what I missed when I went to uni today so here I am writing my first blog entry! (Actually it's my second but I have not idea what happened to the first one)

I like the sound of the project and think it's gonna be interesting. I don't want to choose a brand that already has a fragrance which is going to be difficult coz I can't even think of a brand that dosen't have one!

Also, I need to choose a brand that I will be able to find a lot of info on. I got stuck last year when I coundn't find certain info that I needed because of the company I chose. I'm going to do some resaerch before I choose the brand anyway.

I really want to get started taking photos and looking for thinngs that are going to inspire my project, so I'm going to get on with that before next lesson.
